A giltwood overmantel mirror bearing the label of John Hay, Aberdeen

Original gesso and preparation; water-gilding refreshed; original bevelled glass.

In many ways a typical William IV overmantel but untypical in having its maker's label.
John Hay was a carver, gilder, looking-glass and picture frame maker. This label states he is in St Nicholas Street in Aberdeen though he later moved to Union Street. The National Portrait Gallery website has a substantial entry on him under picture frame makers. He was also a retailer of optical and mathematical instruments.

It is very rare to be able to firmly attribute a mirror frame as Scottish.
